Longyearbyen Craft Center
The Craft Center
The Craft Center is home to local artists who create unique art and handcrafted items for sale.
We are open at least three times a week: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays from 12:00 to 16:00. We also accommodate group visits and guided tours by prior arrangement.
In addition to our regular hours, the Craft Center hosts special annual events such as Solfestuka and the Christmas Market, along with exhibitions and events organized by our resident artists. Stay updated through our Facebook group ( also Ros & Info group) and posters around town.
With over 10 studios, our space supports a diverse community of artists and makers. Among them are skilled photographers, cosmetic artisans, reindeer antler craftsmen, potters, painters, chocolatiers, cyanotype artists, candle makers, sculptors, and even tattoo artists!
If you're in Nybyen, stop by and see what our Center has to offer!
Don't forget to check our website regularly—we plan to feature all our local artists there soon!

Trollhouse
The tattoo studio by Maciej.
Maciej’s studio is located on the upper floor of the building.
About Maciej:
Born in 1982 in a small town on the Baltic coast near the German border, Maciej is a second-generation tattoo artist and piercer—part of the wave that emerged after 1990.
In 2007, he opened his first studio in the city where he studied. Since then, tattooing has completely absorbed him. For the past 14 years, he has been working and creating in Norway, and since 2023, he has been based in Longyearbyen.
Maciej loves Svalbard, calling it one of the last places in the world where pirates like him can still find a home. What he enjoys most is meeting people from all over the world, each bringing their own unique perspective on tattoo styles and art. This diversity makes every project exciting—he never gets bored at work!
Visit Spitsbergen Artists Center, the only place of its kind in the world, and get your own unique tattoo by Maciej.
Maciej is also a talented designer. At the Center, you can find limited-edition T-shirts featuring his exclusive designs.

Donido’s studio is located on the ground floor of the building.
About Donido.Art:
founded by the dynamic duo Domi and Niko in the heart of Svalbard — is where ecological sustainability meets artistic innovation.
Inspired by the fragile harmony of Arctic nature, Donido.Art creates unique, handcrafted pieces using primarily locally sourced and recycled materials — including naturally shed Svalbard reindeer antlers, Longyearbyen coal, and remnants from polar bear protection efforts.
Each material tells a story: of the region’s wildlife, its rugged landscape, and a deep commitment to non-harm, ethical sourcing, and environmental stewardship.
